The Association of Black Faculty, Administrators, and Staff (ABFAS) supports diversity initiatives within the community. The organization engages in professional development, student involvement, and social networking across the University to enhance work life here at Mason.
ABFAS co-sponsors and collaborates with other departments to fund the SOURCE initiative, Black History Month programs and the African Heritage Graduation celebration to name a few. We hold meetings with faculty and staff to keep informed of inter- departmental events and offer support when needed. ABFAS members also participate in on and off-campus student events and promotes student academic and social initiatives.
We are engaged, supportive and excited to bring together the African Heritage community here at Mason!
The association meets during the fall and spring semesters inside the G. W. Johnson Center, Robeson Room 240A on the Fairfax campus. Meeting dates and times will be announced via the association’s mailing list.
