ABFAS CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH 2012 February 23rd, 2012 - The Association of Black Faculty, Administrators, and Staff hosted Makng the Change - Meeting the Challenge in support of Mason's Black History Month festivities. Dr. Richard T. Craig, Dept. of Communication, served as keynote speaker for the event, held In Research Hall's Showcase Conference Room.
ABFAS LAUNCHES SPRING 2012 EVENTS WITH A CAREER SERVICES SEMINAR FOR FACULTY & STAFF January 25th, 2012 - The Association of Black Faculty, Administrators and Staff (ABFAS) kicked off its Spring semester events with a Career Services Seminar for faculty and staff. Presented by Mr. Philip L. Wilkerson III (above) of Mason's Office of Career Services, the highly informative session discussed a variety of key issues and aspects of career planning from enhancing your resume' to advice on seeking internal promotions as well as upwardly trending career fields in today's economy (click here). ABFAS HOLDS ANNUAL WELCOME BACK LUNCHEON September 13th, 2011 - The Association of Black Faculty, Administrators and Staff (ABFAS) held its annual Welcome Back Luncheon for the 2011-12 academic year. The luncheon, which took place in George's Restaurant & Conference space, gave members an opportunity to visit with one another as well as welcome new colleagues to the Mason community. Those in attendance were treated to a lite lunch buffet and cake (above) as well as a preview of the Executive Committee's goals and objectives for the year. ABFAS MEMBERS VISIT THE WHITE HOUSE April 8th, 2011 - ABFAS members gathered in Washington, D.C. for a tour of the White House. In addition to the portraits of Presidents and First Ladies that line the Ground and State floors, visitors to the residence are able to view the various exhibits, historic artifacts, architecture and decor of the Library, Vermeil Room, China Room, East Room and State Dining Room as well as the Red, Blue, and Green Rooms. Much thanks to our Mason colleague Ms. Rachel Harrison (Student Centers) for coordinating the event with ABFAS Vice President, Ms. K. Collette Lawson (Public & International Affairs). A great time was had by all!
